2012 Telstra Drug Aware Pro

The Pro has seen some truly Extraordinary Moments over its 35 year history – waves big, small and huge; champions reigning and falling; and locals doggedly challenging the World’s best surfers on the heaviest waves outside of Hawaii’s North Shore.

Defending male and female 2011 champions, Americans Damien Hobgoodand CourtneyConlogue return to defend their titles against a strong line-up of Australia’s best including Joel Parkinson, Taj Burrow, Owen Wright, Julian Wilson, Josh Kerr, and Mick Fanning.  Rising Australian women Laura Enever, Rebecca Woods, Tyler Wright and Sally Fitzgibbons will present the biggest test to the international challengers.

Added to this, former world champions and some of the best surfers ever to don a competition vest, Mark Occhilupo, Tom Carroll, Martin Potter, Tom Curren, Chris Gallagher and Ian Cairns, will also return to Margaret River in 2012.  In an exciting addition to this year’s event, enthusiastic amateur surfers will have a chance to fundraise their way into the line-up and compete on the final weekend with one of these returning legends of surfing.  All funds raised will go to SurfAid Australia.
