Drink spiking can put you at increased risk of sexual assault. Most of the time we hear about chemicals being added to drinks to ‘knock’ the person out. This is actually quite rare. Drink spiking more commonly involves increasing the amount of alcohol in a persons drink without them knowing.
If you choose to drink, keep yourself safe from drink spiking:
- Only accept drinks from people you know and trust.
- Be suspicious if someone buys you a drink that is not what you asked for.
- Always keep your drink with you.
- If you lose sight of your drink, don’t drink from it again.
- Never share drinks with anyone.
- If you feel dizzy or light-headed, get to a safe place with people you know and trust.
