Matt’s* Story

Matt came from a loving, caring family.  He started using drugs in a social way with his friends.  He used occasionally (once a month) over a summer period going to festivals and when they went out to clubs, then his use started to increase to weekly use.

He started off with a few pills and a line or two then this started to increase to a few lines on weekends, and over time kept increasing.  Then one day he injected with a mate who he got his drugs from and he said using this way made it feel much better.

He started to hang out with his dealer rather than his friends.  His close friends started to notice some changes in his behaviour and became concerned, but he would always deny it and say he was just having fun.

After a while he started falling into increasing debt with his dealer.  He owed him a lot of money.  He became more isolated from his friends and stayed at home a lot more. One day his housemate came home to find police in the house and his mate dead on the floor.
